2 Month Continuation of the Medicare Part B Outpatient Therapy Cap Exceptions Process Approved

House and Senate Approves bill that includes a 2 month continuation of the Medicare Part B outpatient therapy cap exceptions process.

Today the House and Senate each approved by unanimous consent, HR 3765, The Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011. The President is expected to sign it later today. The legislation provides for a 2 month extension of the reduced payroll  and unemployment insurance among other provisions.  Most importantly for NASL members, the bill includes a 2 month continuation of the Medicare Part B outpatient therapy cap exceptions process until February 29, 2012, a 2 month extension of the “doc fix” to the Medicare sustainable growth rate formula (SGR), and a continuation of the Medicare work geographic floor.   The Senate has agreed to the House request for a conference committee that will begin to deliberate on a longer fix.
