A moment that reminded him why he does this work
William has worked with patients who needed significant assistance from nursing staff just to move. Over time, with consistent gait training, some have progressed to walking independently outdoors. "This was really rewarding to see him build his confidence, and it was evident how much he enjoyed getting outside and getting fresh air."
A win from this year
A resident came to William's facility after a fall that limited his mobility. Through consistent gait training, he progressed to walking independently and continues his walking program with his family's support. "It has been really great to see his progress and confidence build up over time."
What people outside the field don't understand
"Working in senior care can be difficult at times because many of our residents have advanced dementia or are approaching the end of their lives. This can be emotionally taxing when you lose a resident or see their decline after building close relationships with them over the years."

"I would hope that the care team of my family member would show that they are truly invested in the well-being of my loved one, willing to go above and beyond to ensure the best quality of care is being provided."
